Chop, chop, then chop it again

Another day, another Hexstatic rehash, as if I needed to remind you of next Friday’s FREE GIG! This time we’re going back, waaaay back to a seminal moment in the audio visual movement, the creation of enviro-political collage that is ‘Timber’. Using footage provided by Greenpeace, Hexstatic weave video and audio into rhythmic segments, an approach which has since been repeated time after time in av mashups.  The message here is pretty clear, cutting trees down is bad, mkay.

Always up for a reinterpretation they returned to this early work for inspiration for their Halloween Show in 2006. The resulting bastard offspring was Timber Chainsaw Massacre. Possibly not one for the faint hearted, but a great rehash nonetheless….
